LARA 2017

Asiaciti Trust Group continues its sponsorship of the itinerant residency program and art project: Latin American Roaming Art (LARA). The aim is to develop and promote contemporary Latin American artists and their work by annually hosting eight different artists in a country in Latin America, focusing on an artistic and cultural immersion, and a final group art exhibition.

This year we are pleased to announce that LARA has taken its mission a step further, and set its sights on the Southeast Asian art arena by joining the prestigious art fair, Art Stage Singapore. The initiative was to generate interest in LARA through exposure, conversation, and education.

Though on opposite sides of the world, both regions are home to vibrant and flourishing contemporary art scenes. LARA was honoured to have been in the company of international art galleries and cooperatives. Our booth at Art Stage Singapore featured three artists from the LARA Peru edition: 12 drawings from Raimond Chaves’ series Turistas, Ruinas, y Montañas; a sculpture by Irene Kopelman, Maras en Angulo Virado; and a video performance piece Suspendido en la Queñua, by Antonio Paucar.

This initiative resulted in much interest from various galleries and institutions and helped bridge the gap between the art worlds of two continents. We are also excited to begin our fifth LARA project edition in Panama. Please visit www.laraproyecto.org to learn more.
